Memorial services for Departed Animals
One of life’s greatest challenges is the heartache of losing someone we love. When an animal companion passes away, we can feel an overwhelming sense of loss, confusion, and have difficulty moving forward.
Ceremonies, rituals and memorials can serve as a healing tool in helping to process the loss, allocate time to honor the beloved, and stay connected with their soul as you move forward.
As an ordained Animal Chaplain, I will prepare and guide a beautiful, personalized memorial service to celebrate the life of your animal, honor them, and support your eternal, connection.
WHAT DOES THE MEMORIAL SERVICE INCLUDE?
A unique, customized memorial service for any kind of animal. Overall, the ceremony is non-denominational, while inspired by yoga philosophy. You may attend alone, or you’re welcome to invite others to participate.
Although each animal’s service will be different, the ceremony could include:
- The 5 Elements (space, air, fire, water, earth)
- Mantras, Passages
- Time for Reflection & Prayer
- Short Meditation
- Stories
- Memorializing Rituals (for example, candle lighting & message writing)

Services are held in-person* or virtually
Approximately 1-hour in duration
Guidance will be provided prior for setting up your table or “altar” to prepare for the service. It may include representation of the 5 elements, photographs, personal items, cremation ashes, mementos, etc.
Prior to your service, you’ll be sent a questionnaire to collect information about your animal and specifics to customize your experience.
You’re provided a Ceremony Kit with items to use during the service (mailed for virtual services).
Receive additional grief-supporting resources immediately after booking your service.
*Amanda resides in Nevada City, California, located north-east of Sacramento in Northern California. Traveling outside of a 25 mile radius is possible, although additional fees would apply. If interested to learn more, just write us a message here!

My desire is to provide Animal Chaplaincy to anyone who seeks these meaningful services.
With that in mind, I offer a sliding scale for
pay-what-you-can fees to guide your memorial.
Virtual Service: Fee Range of $125 - $450
In-Person:* Fee Range of $250 - $650

FAQs
Where does the service take place? Can these be done in person?
Yes, both are possible. The services can be held virtually (via Zoom) with up to 50 attendees. Or, the service is held in-person, with no additional travel fee if within 25 mile radius of Nevada City, California.
Is this a religious ceremony? Do I need to subsribe to "yoga philosophy" or have that spiritual practice?
The services are non-denomonational, inter-species, inter-faith. As a certified yoga, meditation and Ayurveda instructor for 20 years, Amanda will bring that background, experience and influence into each ceremony, to whatever degree the human gaurdians prefer.
How soon after, or how long after, does the service need to take place?
A memorial servie can be done absolutely anytime an animal passes. Amanda is open and flexible with who the service is for, including animals who lived in farms, sanctuaries, zoos, shelters, or other.
