What Is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda, or “the science of life,” is a 5,000-year-old system of holistic healing that offers timeless wisdom and practical tools to foster vibrant wellbeing. With its origins in the Vedic tradition of India, Ayurveda defines health as a dynamic state of balance between body, mind and spirit. It teaches a personalized approach to healing that treats the whole being, not just the separate symptoms. Urging individuals to explore what balance looks like for them, Ayurveda empowers each of us to understand what the most nourishing choices are – for each unique being – that lead to lifelong vitality.
A foundational principle of Ayurveda is the three body/mind types or energies, also known as Doshas.
